Modou Jobe shows gratitude to veteran Gambian goalkeepers

Gambian international goalkeeper Modou Jobe has been quick to show gratitude to veteran goalkeepers like Pa Dembo Touray and Wande Njie for their immense help.

He described the support rendered to him by the duo during the qualifiers, especially the crucial match against Angola as immeasurable.

“Both Wande Njie and Pa Dembo were very instrumental. Dembo motivated me, asked me to use my experience and it bailed me out.” Jobe revealed.

“Wande Njie went on to deliberate on Angola’s strength, he further alerted me on communication, set pieces and timing.”

“I appreciate it, I’m so proud of them. They are always seniors. When you listen to them you will always be successful. They paved the way, it’s not about us but for the entire nation.” Jobe added.

Modou Jobe marked his 35th cap with a 1-0 win over Angola making it three wins in Group D and his 11th clean sheet.

He savored the moment after Gambia made it to the AFCON for the first time in their history after several failed attempts.

“We waited for it, we were very happy after a very difficult journey. The fighting spirit we were able to qualify our first maiden appearances.”

“It’s our time and turn. We wanted to qualify since the last edition but now is the time. One of my proudest moments.”

“We were playing for everything, for the nation, family and ourselves. It motivated us a lot. This is dedicated to all Gambians. Best moment in my career.”
