Is Saikou Touray the option to unlock Angola & Dr Congo?

Israeli Maccabi Haifa Fc midfielder Saikou Touray who is currently on loan at another Israeli premier league Kiryat Shmona Fc has played for both the Gambia U20 & U23 teams respectively. For the U20’s, he was a Gold and Bronze winner when the team played in the WAFU competition before he left for Israel.

Touray started with Beitar Tubruk U19 where he scored 12 goals and provided five assists before being signed by Israeli heavyweight Maccabi Haifa on a five -year deal.

The Tujereng born player despite being a right-footed midfielder is an all-rounder as he can operate from the wings in a front three while he can also feature as a box-box and attacking midfielder. These qualities make him stand tall among the rest when it comes to mobility in the Gambian current setup in relations to the offensive positions.

“My target is to play in the national team but at the same time, I have to get as much as playing minutes in my club first. I only hope they are following my progress over here too. I am looking forward to that because it is my target”. Touray stressed.

The former Superstar Academy Fc and Marimoo player is currently on loan but has been making headlines with Kiryat Shmona who are seventh on the league log.

The Israeli press further went on to describe him as one of the most promising and interesting players in the league.

Touray has played 15 league matches and has been extraordinary in all the games, being a key player arranging the attacks of the club and responsible for all set pieces.

“My first year, I was loaned out because of my age. The aim was for me to go out and gather more experience. I know I can play in Maccabi Haifa, I got that feeling. I have to show them this is what I can do. I proved that last year. I want to play that’s why I went for another loan”.

Maccabi Haifa leads the Israeli league and if so next season he can join them to a champion league qualification.

The box to box midfielder described the Ligat ha’Al as a good league in terms of physique, and tempo-wise.

“It has quality, they love aggression. But France and Belgium will be a great adventure to play in.” He added.

He will be waiting for his senior national team call up in the coming months as the AFCON qualifiers and the World Cup qualifiers approach.
