Three Gambians nominated for January Player of the Month award in Senegal
Lamin Jarju (Ndiambour),Gibril Sillah (Teungueth FC) and Lamin Jarju (CasaSports) have been named in their club three-man shortlist for the January award.
The Gambian trio were extraordinary in the first month of 2021 and they are at the forefront to win the prestigious award which is based on polls.
Jarju despite joining the Louga based team from Dakar ‘s Sacred Coer has been impressive in the four games he featured with his main action being the decisive winner he scored against Niary Tally.
Also, Gibril Sillah who has been instrumental for Teungueth netted TFC’s first goal of the season as the CAF Champions league bound side occupy second position on the league log after five games. Gibril previously won the player of the month, whereas both Dembo Darboe & Pa Omar Jobe won it during their stint with Ndiambour.
Former Elite United offensive midfielder Jarju is seen as a super substitute in the Senegalese Ligue 1, as he always literally makes the needed impacts whenever he comes on for CasaSports. He is on the verge of joining Al Shabab versatile defender Sang Pierre Mendy as the players to win the “player of the month” award in their first season. He has already won applause from Casasports and has been likened to Saloum Fall.
“I am happy to be here in CasaSport, it’s a new adventure as well as a challenge. CasaSport is a big club with a rich history. It was hard in the beginning because it was a new environment, teammates, and coaches.” Jarju indicated.
“Yes, I haven’t had a starting berth though each game I do come in the second half and I deliver. I believe I can offer much more and I will do much better. I am still young. With time, I will break in the first XI. The Senegalese league is very physical. I want to help CasaSport win trophies this season.”
“The Player of the Month nomination is a motivation even if I don’t win it. Being selected is a motivation and will make me work harder and show my talent”. He added.
