League semi-finals berth for Ali Sowe and Bakery Jatta, Pa Modou Jagne returns as Europa league qualification hits top gear

Bakery Jatta and Hamburg have reached this year’s DBF Pokal cup semi-final after beating Paderborn 2-0 thanks to Lasogga brace. The last time they made it to this same stage was in 2009. Hamburg sits second in the Bundesliga II with 51 points and will host Magdeburg .

Pinto’s lone goal in the 31st minutes for CSKA Sofia was enough to send them to the Bulgaria cup last four. Ali Sowe was in the thick of events and he will lead them against Ludogorets this weekend as they seek to erase the three-points gap.

Pa Omar Babou continues his impressive form as he scored on Monday to register his third goal in four games for Ramat Hasharon in Israel. He was in his elements despite his club’s defeat. Pa Omar suffered a minor injury at training earlier this week but he is back to full fitness.

Elsewhere Mamut Saine of Al Qaisumah also scored back to back to help his club record a 2-2 against Damac FC in the Saudi Arabia second tier.

Europa league spot wide open

Hadjuk Split and Zuerich FC Europa league ambitions were tested when they lost home to Dynamo Zagreb and Basel FC in the Croatian and Swiss League respectively.

Hamza Barry continues to feature for Hajduk after his return from injury. They currently sit at fifth position with 43 points.

Zuerich FC who have Gambian international Assan Ceesay lost the plot in the second half as they went on to lose 2-0.

Pa Modou Jagne made his first appearance for FC Zurich since the away match against Basel on December 9, 2018. Jagne affectionately called Nda came into the game in the 58th minutes in the reverse fixture as Zurich lost 2-0 . Both Thun and Luzern are below Zuerich for the Europa league place.

There was another battle for European spot when Torino hosted Sampdoria on Wednesday night. The visitors lost in what was coach Marco Giampaolo 300th Serie A match.

The Il Doria are positioned 9th on the league log with 45 points. This is the first time since 1976/77 that Torino have won home and away in this fixture. Omar Colley was withdrawn in the 41st minute when he got a swollen jaw, the Gambian international has featured in all his club’s last ten league Serie A matches. He is expected to be fit to face struggling Roma on Saturday.
