Tom Saintfiet gives updates on Hamza Barry injury
Gambia national team coach Tom Sainfiet has given a run down of Hamza Barry’s recovery progress.
The 24-year-old who is currently a free agent following his release by Croatian outfit Hajduk Split has been out of action for the national team since last year after sustaining an injury but he is now recovering .
“I spoke with Hamza last week. He is recovering slowly, normally a crucial knee ligament takes six months to one year if you train with the physio of the club. It’s a very serious injury.” Saintfiet stressed
“He said he is doing good, he is eyeing a move to a club in the summer transfer window. Hopefully, he can start training and playing with the club. I hope in July, August he can start with a club and play”.
” I hope to see him in the national team in September/ October. That will be fantastic. It’s a very serious injury, if you don’t recover well, some players don’t play in their life after that injury”. He added
The free scoring midfielder will be one of the players the Scorpions will look up to in their maiden AFCON tournament next year.
